This policy explains what personal information Be My Power collects through bemypower.co.uk, why we collect it, and what rights you have. We keep it short and plain, because a privacy policy nobody reads protects nobody.
Who we are
Be My Power is the publisher of this website and of the books described on it. For the purposes of UK data protection law we are the data controller for the information described below.

What we collect
- Mailing list details. If you choose to join our mailing list we collect the first name and email address you enter, together with the date and time of your consent.
- Messages you send us. If you email us, we hold that message and your email address so that we can reply.
- Basic technical information. Our hosting provider records standard server logs, such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested. This is used for security and to keep the site running.
We do not ask for, and do not knowingly collect, personal information from children. The forms and purchases on this site are intended for adults aged 18 or over.
Why we use it, and our legal basis
- To send you the emails you asked for — legal basis: your consent. You may withdraw it at any time.
- To reply to you — legal basis: our legitimate interest in answering the people who contact us.
- To keep the website secure and working — legal basis: our legitimate interest in running a safe website.
We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for automated decision-making or profiling.
Who else sees it
We share information only with the service providers that make the website work, for example our website host and our email delivery provider. They act on our instructions and are not permitted to use your details for their own purposes. Where a provider is based outside the UK, appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement apply.
Links to Amazon on this website take you to Amazon’s own site, which has its own privacy policy. We do not receive your Amazon account details.
How long we keep it
Mailing list details are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Emails are kept for as long as needed to deal with your query and for a reasonable period afterwards. Server logs are kept for a short period by our host.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct anything that is wrong;
- ask us to delete your information;
- object to, or ask us to restrict, how we use it;
- ask for your information in a portable format;
- withdraw consent at any time, including by using the unsubscribe link in any email.
